how do you come up with ideas?
a little weird to open a blog post where i talk about things with a question directed to you, but we ball.
i come up with ideas by listening to music, but i'm sure you all know that by now.
lately, i've been thinking about some promised additions to both this website and ████████'s... oh, wait, i forgot i can't really name drop it anymore. my bad. ahem, anyways...
one of the main things i have been wanting to actually follow through with as of late have been showing off my cd and pin collection, as well as some other trinkets of mine. the main way i want to go about this is to set up a big image with everything there. it could have either hovertext or click regions that would sort of expand into a larger solo image with more details about it.
...now that i'm actually writing this, i think click regions would work better... anyways! i think a big image with that sorta thing could be fun to make as well as give me opportunities to take photos of more things that i have because, as you know, there are none here.
...but enough about concepts of actual things, what about concepts of ideas? what ARE ideas, anyway? how do you know you get 'em? are they subjective just like most other things in life? is my nuance cap too big for my head? all this and more!
i don't really know when exactly i "get" an idea. most of the time, it just sorta happens. one moment i'm doing something and then something hits me and i think to myself, "is this anything?"
sometimes though, like right now, i go a really long time without ideas. could that be considered burnout? i don't know! it's pretty annoying though because those are the times where i actually want to get writing done!
when this happens, i often just get stuck there and think to myself... it's usually something like this:
okay, i'm about to write something and i'm looking through things for inspiration... why am i not getting anything?
is there a way to consistently get ideas? surely, it's tied to motive in some way...
do i need to sit down and force myself to do things? that doesn't sound right...
if i wait it out, it'll end up being weeks. that's too long...
i want to do these things, so why can't i get a vague plan for what i want? ...ideas are stupid. motivation is stupid.
and all of that just to figure out that i'm burnt on whatever i was planning on working on... which in of itself is so annoying because, again, i want to write! but i can't just! power through it! why!
ideas are stupid. motivation is stupid.
